Anupriya Prakash

Digital Engagement Manager

Anupriya is a Digital Marketing and Communication professional. Born in New Delhi, India, she moved to Canada in 2019. A journalism graduate, she has worked in global advertising agencies like Dentsu and McCann Worldgroup as a Strategic Planner. Passionate about digital marketing, she has previously worked for a Not For Profit organization based in Ontario, Caring Dads as a Website and a Digital Manager. Currently learning to code, she is trying to ace up her programming skills to master the art of digital marketing. She also has a good knowledge of SEO, SEM, SMO and email marketing.

Curious being, she loves travelling and reading. Balancing the act of life, she is fond of food and cooking as much as she loves yoga and meditation.

Bryan Mc Govern

Staff Writer

Originally from Mexico, Bryan moved to Vancouver and obtained a diploma in journalism from Langara College. After graduating he did some freelance reporting with community newspapers in British Columbia. He initially wrote about the life science space for INN and now spends his time covering the marijuana market, from Canadian LPs to US-based companies, and the impact of this sector on investors.

Carl Hermansen

Strategic Account Manager

Carl is a design specialist with a background in both hospitality & retail management, as well as sales and marketing. He has an in-depth knowledge of the cannabis world from branding to retail growth to medicinal properties and values. He is Vancouver born and raised, having spent time abroad studying in Europe. In his spare time, he enjoys writing and tending to his expanding cactus collection. 

Carlo Yau

Client Development Manager

Carlo is a seasoned finance/banking professional with an entrepreneurial spirit, especially in tech.  Prior to joining INN, Carlo along with a few of his friends founded a consultant firm with an emphasis on raising capital for tech start-ups.  When not at work, you will most likely see him immersed in everything relating to sports... especially Fantasy sports!  Aside from that, he enjoys traveling to different places around the world with his wife and create memories along the way.    

Charlotte McLeod

Editorial Director

A Vancouver native, Charlotte has a BA in English and a Certificate in Editing from Simon Fraser University. She has an eye for detail and is passionate about creating and curating great content.

 

Charlotte began working at the Investing News Network in the spring of 2012 as editorial assistant and has been hooked on mining since then. She's now managing editor for the resource side of the site and is always interested in hearing the latest mining news (and gossip).

Christopher Smith

Co-Founder, CSO

Christopher oversees the client development and client services team at INN. IN 2007, Chris co founded Dig Media, INN’s parent company, with Nick Smith and Mike Rodger.
 

Prior to Dig Media, Christopher was a Publisher with Kyoto publishing and led two thought leadership publications, ‘The Sustainable Enterprise Report’ and ‘Government by Example with Deloitte’, to market.
 

Before Kyoto Publishing, he was a senior client development manager with LinkShare, a Rakuten company where he consulted with the Internet’s largest retailers to assist them become more profitable using LinkShare’s performance marketing solutions.
 

In 1999, Christopher was recruited to join Montgomery Research. At Montgomery Research, Christopher climbed through the ranks working on thought leadership projects. In 2004, he and Nick Smith launched Revenue – The Performance Marketing Standard, an industry leading affiliate-marketing publication that took profit within its first year. In 2005, Christopher assumed the role of publisher and further developed the magazine’s online properties and grew revenue streams and profits. 
 

He was at the heart of the IPO phenomenon with Media Metrix, where Christopher worked as sales director selling Internet audience measurement data to all the Internet start ups and businesses across North America.
 

Prior to moving west from Florida to San Francisco, Christopher commenced his career as a marketing director of the largest catamaran yacht dealership in North America.
 

Christopher holds a business administration degree from the University of Florida. 

Emma Frith

Director of Change Management

Emma is a certified Change Management and Operations Management Professional with over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry leading teams and implementing transformational change programs. Emma moved to Vancouver from the UK back in 2006 (for a 2 year work assignment) and has yet to make her way back 'home'. 


In 2020, Emma took a deep breath and made the decision to leave the safety of what she had always known (the banking industry) to try something new and she has not looked back since - she is thoroughly enjoying learning about publishing and using her problem solving skills to make INN an even more efficient and dynamic environment for all.


Emma's 'happy place' is hiking the beautiful Coquitlam Crunch listening to forensic scientists discuss murder scenes and corpses (she's a True Crime podcast addict); she has an encyclopedic knowledge of 70's glam rock music, 80's pop music, 90's hip hop and Northern English indie guitar bands (so is an excellent person to invite to a pub quiz). Emma also has a chronic shoe addiction. 

Georgia Williams

Staff Writer

Originally from Calgary, Georgia has been right at home in Toronto for more than a two decades. Graduating from UofT with a BA in Journalism she is passionate about writing on diverse topics, including resources, arts, politics and social issues. In her spare time, Georgia enjoys experiencing Toronto’s vibrant food, arts and culture scene.

John Seaward

Accounting and Accounts Receivable Assistant

John was born and raised in Vancouver. He graduated from BCIT with a Bachelor of Technology in Accounting. Prior to working at Investing News Network, he was the Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist at BSM Technologies. In his spare time, he enjoys practicing Brazilian jujitsu and going to the gym.

Jonathan Holmes

Partner, INN Australia

Jonathan Holmes is a sales and marketing professional with over 6 years of experience working for online companies. Jonathan started his career working for a start-up job board where he created their first company newsletter and initiated a strategic Facebook marketing campaign. He has worked at industry leading companies like 1-800 Got-Junk, where he developed into a team leader, worked on their social media committee, and captained the first outbound sales program.

 

He got his first taste of online publishing with a free Wordpress blog created to capture a backpacking experience around Costa Rica. He was instantly hooked on Wordpress, and considers it the greatest open source platform ever created. Social media became a part of everyday life, spending countless hours stumbling through the Blogosphere connecting with bloggers, artists, and media gurus. He is always on the hunt for the latest SEO trends and new social media platforms. At last count, his blog had over 5000 subscribers, 4,848 Twitter followers, and 4,557 Facebook fans. He is also a volunteer high school football coach and makes a yearly pilgrimage to Touchdown Jesus in Notre Dame.

 

On the lighter side of things - Years ago he discovered the meaning of life but forgot to write it down. He is a private citizen, yet receives fan mail. He was caller number nine and won the weekend passes. He also makes an extraordinary four-course meal using only a mouli and a toaster oven. He is an expert in Stucco, a veteran in love and an outlaw in Peru.

Josh Franken

Director of Sales

Josh Franken has over 15 years experience in sales and digital marketing. He started his career with the Oxford Business Group (OBG) helping produce independent economic analysis on developing economies to raise awareness and facilitate foreign investment. During his time with OBG he completed projects in the Philippines, Ukraine, Kuwait, Indonesia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
It was a natural fit for Josh to apply his skills to the world of capital markets and after several successful years in the industry working for an unnamed competitor, he began his tenure with the Investing News Network in the summer of 2020 as the Director of Sales. He grew up in Vancouver and when not occupied by his two small children he can be found on the ice rink playing hockey in the winter and on the tennis courts in the summer.

Mark Su

Webmaster

Mark is a seasoned full-stack web developer who believes in building better web products to improve the experience for users. A programmer at heart, he is also experienced with marketing website performance, optimizes speed, and usability to increase SERP rankings and conversion.

Mike Rodger

Co-Founder, COO

Mike was one of the first employees with Longview Capital Partners and helped build the team of investor relations professionals that worked with that company’s investee companies. He saw a lack of independent, unbiased media in the exploration/mining market. When approached to work on the site U3O8.biz, he saw the opportunity to provide that model to the market.

 

Previously, Mike was an active member of Vancouver’s high-tech industry for 15 years, building sales and marketing teams and helping companies manage significant growth. These companies have been recognized as among the fastest growing in Canada, and have won numerous awards, including the BC Export Award and Deloitte’s 50 Best Managed Private Companies. Mike was awarded the Business in Vancouver Forty under 40 in 2004 for his role in helping build three separate rapidly-growing high-tech companies.

Nick Smith

Co-Founder, CEO

Nick Smith has more than 15 years of publishing experience and he has consulted for several publishing groups over the last three years on topics of sales, marketing, distribution, and process. In 2007, Smith accepted the challenge of leading KP Publishing. Prior to that, Smith founded and served as CEO of Montgomery Media International in 2002. This new media company addressed new markets such as internet advertising with innovative design, content, and distribution models. In 1996, Smith was involved in the founding of a thought leadership publishing company in San Francisco, California. As publisher, he established and managed relationships with companies, including Accenture, IBM, Microsoft and Intel. The business model included working with consultants, analysts, academics, Global 2000 executives and leading technology companies. Project focus included: supply chain, customer relationship management, energy and utilities, and the public sector. Starting his career in London, Smith worked on sports- focused consumer publications in partnership with celebrities, including Lord Sebastian Coe and Tony Jacklin.

 

Although he resides in San Francisco, California, Nick is frequently in Vancouver for business. Occasionally, Nick will forgo the great service of Air Canada and take the coast road up on his KTM Superduke.

Pia Rivera

Director of Production

Pia serves as a bridge between sales, clients, and the development team, ensuring that products are delivered on time and on spec. Since moving to Vancouver in 2005, she has been in project and client account management roles, including running web and print campaigns from inception to completion. She was the first production manager at Dig Media in 2008; she left briefly, but rejoined the company in 2011. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of the Philippines.

Priscila Barrera

Managing Editor - Resources

Priscila is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she earned a BA in Communications at Universidad de San Andres. She moved to Vancouver for the first time in 2010 and fell in love with the city. A few years after she went to London, UK, to study a MA in Journalism at Kingston University and came back in 2016. She enjoys reading, drinking coffee and travelling.

Rachel Meadow

Office and HR Assistant

Rachel Meadow is originally from Calgary, Alberta and moved to Vancouver to attend university. She graduated from UBC’s Sauder School of Business with a Bachelor of Commerce specializing in Human Resources and Marketing. Rachel has a passion for travelling as she loves learning about different cultures and cuisines.

Rachel is one of the newest members of our expanding team here at INN, working in the role of Office & HR assistant. She spends most of her free time working out and strength training, dancing in Zumba class, watching Netflix, and enjoys learning new recipes and cooking.

Ray Haile

Digital Marketing Strategist

Originally from Ottawa, Ray's background in digital marketing along with his B. Comm degree earned at Carleton University has helped businesses from the Fortune 500 to SMBs deliver impactful results and drive business growth. 


As a cinephile, he can be seen enjoying Toronto's exciting film scene and taking part in the film festival circuit.  In his spare time, he enjoys reading books and is passionate about travelling to different countries.

Serge Vinokour

CTO

Highly skilled visionary and influential leader with an exceptional background and international experience in information and financial technologies. Has extensive proven achievements in strategic planning, creating and implementing world-class winning solutions, directing global enterprise operations and consistently reaching business and community goals and objectives. Great communicator and inspirer with outstanding analytical skills and perfectionistic attention to details.

Tyler Prue

Director of Account Management

Tyler has been involved in Sales and Relationship Management since he began his career just over a decade ago. In various roles, he has developed a knack for strategic analysis and implementing process to benefit both sides of the business equation. While expanding his repertoire of skills, experiences and qualifications he's constantly drawn to the personal elements of business;  sincere relationships and the value of integrity, honesty and trust.

 

Tyler joined INN in Oct 2016 in the role of Strategic Account Manager.

 

When not working, Tyler can be found creating interactive art projects, and helping foster a strong sense of community and inclusion.

Veronica Lee

CFO

Veronica is a Finance and Accounting professional with over 20 years of experience. Prior to Dig Media, Veronica was a Global Alliance Controller with experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A) and project finance in the biotechnology industry with Genentech. Previously, she was in investment banking with RBC Capital Markets in San Francisco, Audit and Business Advisory Services at PwC in the UK and Canada, and personal and commercial banking at CIBC.

 

Veronica holds a MBA degree from London Business School, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of British Columbia. She holds a CFA designation and a CPA, CA designation.
